So I fell in love with the fairy tale ragged look of these two designers http://www.gibbousfashions.com/ and http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=37453 but they don't seen to really make things my size. I decided I would tr to make my own.
First i picked a pattern , a simple a line from simplicity . As this goes with my new years vow to learn to sew more. I think this would work just as well with a thrift store find.
Next I gathered up various trims, an old skirt tat has seen better days and scraps of fabric.
I then put together my skirt except for the waist band and zipper. The I cut up my scraps and started just pinning things where I thought they'd look good
This is the skirt in the beginning Yeah not exactly the prettiest thing. But i kept at it ! Adding smaller pieces of various textures and shades . It started to look pretty good
Still I added more. My base fabric began to fray so I took the plunge and badly hemmed and added my very first ever waist band !
I added even more things
It's still not finished but Now I'm really happy with it. I think I accomplished what I set out to do and truely captured the feel those amazing designers had . Hopefully I'll finish it this weekend and will take pics of me wearing my new masterpiece !
