These are made from the resin and shrink plastic. They're really light. next thing I want to try is fabric ! it would be a great way to use all the scraps I seem to keep.
I'm also almost finished with my third minisweater. yes third. I love it, it's made from this awesome bright green yarn and makes my already loud hair stand out even more !
What you'll need
-wax paper , this stuff will be your best friend when working with resin !
-cheapo paint brush, you know the kind .. they're plastic and you can get em at the dollar stor
2} lay out the wax paper , this will protect your work surface and it will make removing the piece a ton easier if the resin spills.
3} Mix the resin as per instructions
4} I now use the cheapo paint brush to dab on the resin . Resin has a great surface tension and will dome all on it's own.
5} if for some reason the resin spills over the edge don't worry just use your stir stick to push it out of the puddle
6} now let your pieces cure for at least a day once cure simply drill a hole add a jumpring and tada a realy cool charm !
2}something to cute with, I use a paper cutter as I can't cut a straight line to save my live
3} gel medium matt
5} collage materials
6}sandpaper and a flat bastard file
First cut the shrink platic to the size you want. These are cut to 2 1/2 inches square
2} Bake as per instuctions
3}Now I sand one side to give it tooth, this helps the paper stick to the shrink plastic .
4} I also file the edges to give them a nice rounded shape
5} now you glue your collage images down. I usually glue them down then cut then to shape. I find it easier this way.
6} coat the collaged images with at least three layers of gel medium. This way when you add the resin the images won't discolor.
next part wil come soon. I need to pick up a few more supplies.
It seems that as of last night my faithful laptop has crashed . it makes me very sad. But I'm still working on my shrink plastic and resin charm tutorial so have no fear ! The tute. will be up and ready in a few days.
Look what came in the mail for me today. They're all so pretty ! I tend to buy the bulk of my tin off ebay and when you buy lots sometimes you get gems like these !
Also I'm starting to prepare for vending at this years Eccentrik music festival. It's a goth, alternative music festival held every year in NC. Loads of fun ! And I get to make my stranger things like bone and resin jewelry. I tend to work buy gathering everything I think I may use. I then make lists of the things I need or are out of ,like clasps and earwires. And then I just play mixing and matching things till I get the look I want.
This year I think I want to make some steampunk pieces as well as my victorianish pieces. it'll be fun !
